Urban Experience Ruhr
Urban Experience Ruhr explores how urban games can make transformative urban development in the Ruhr Metropolis an engaging, hands-on experience. The project is developing three game prototypes with different themes (Colorful City, Green City & Built City), which are intended to be further developed over the long term as tools for citizen participation and research. Digital elements meet real-world locations, movement, and play meet urban development: for lala.ruhr, with a special focus on ecological issues surrounding the “Green City.” Players explore a real neighborhood along designated play areas and points of interest, solving tasks and collecting points while playfully gaining knowledge about the environment and urban nature. The games are being developed as prototypes that are intended to be further refined over the long term as tools for citizen participation and research. Our project partners for Urban Experience Ruhr are die Urbanisten and Bande für Gestaltung. This project is funded under the ERDF/JTF Program NRW 2021–2027 and co-financed by the European Union.
